Ammo

Ammunition Mods are a type of passive gear featured in The Last Stand: Dead Zone.

Description[]

Specialized ammunition designed for greater impact.

Background[]

In most situations, conventional ammunition is still effective against the zombie hordes, but when your weapon needs some extra punch, specialized types of ammo can provide it; depending on the type used, some can provide shooters the ability to pierce kevlar, while others can create larger wound cavities for increased stopping power.

Effect[]

Increases a firearm's damage and ammo cost by a percentage, depending on the Ammunition Mod's level.

Recycling products[]

How to obtain[]

  • Regular variants can no longer be scavenged.
  • Slugs and Tracer Rounds subtypes can be scavenged during Level 21+ missions.
  • Subsonic SMG and Rifle Rounds subtypes can be scavenged during Level 37(?)+ missions.

Crafting[]

Regular[]

  • Level 5 Hollow Point variants can be crafted using 2 Hardened Metal, 20 Primers, 20 Shell Casings and 40 Gunpowder at a Level 2+ Gear Bench for 3 Fuel.
  • Level 8 Quality Hollow Point variants can be crafted using 7 Hardened Metal, 20 Primers, 20 Shell Casings and 40 Gunpowder at a Level 2+ Gear Bench for 10 Fuel after scavenging the required schematic. Also requires a Level 8+ Engineer.
  • Level 9 FMJ variants can be crafted using 4 Hardened Metal, 20 Primers, 20 Shell Casings and 40 Gunpowder at a Level 4+ Gear Bench for 5 Fuel.
  • Level 13 Hardened Wadcutter variants can be crafted using 10 Hardened Metal, 20 Primers, 20 Shell Casings and 40 Gunpowder at a Level 5+ Gear Bench for 16 Fuel after scavenging the required schematic. Also requires a Level 13+ Engineer.
  • Level 18 Quality FMJ variants can be crafted using 6 Hardened Metal, 30 Primers, 30 Shell Casings and 40 Gunpowder at a Level 7+ Gear Bench for 22 Fuel after scavenging the required schematic. Also requires a Level 18+ Engineer and Fighter.
  • Level 18 Hardened variants can be crafted using 6 Hardened Metal, 20 Primers, 20 Shell Casings and 40 Gunpowder at a Level 8+ Gear Bench for 11 Fuel.
  • Level 21 Hardened Hollow Point variants can be crafted using 32 Hardened Metal, 40 Primers, 50 Shell Casings and 100 Gunpowder at a Level 8+ Gear Bench for 36 Fuel after scavenging the required schematic. Also requires a Level 21+ Engineer and Recon.

Subtypes[]

  • Level 24 Hardened Tracer Rounds can be crafted using Tracer Rounds and 10 Small Machined Parts at a Level 8+ Gear Bench for 15 Fuel.
  • Level 24 Hardened Slugs can be crafted using Slugs and 10 Small Machined Parts at a Level 8+ Gear Bench for 15 Fuel.
  • Level 29 Hardened Dim Tracer Rounds can be crafted using Tracer Rounds and 38 Small Machined Parts at a Level 10+ Gear Bench for 36 Fuel after scavenging the required schematic. Also requires a Level 29+ Engineer.
  • Level 29 Hardened Ball Slugs can be crafted using Slugs and 38 Small Machined Parts at a Level 10+ Gear Bench for 36 Fuel after scavenging the required schematic. Also requires a Level 29+ Engineer.
  • Level 35 Hardened Hollow Point Slugs can be crafted using Slugs and 92 Small Machined Parts at a Level 12+ Gear Bench for 61 Fuel after scavenging the required schematic. Also requires a Level 35+ Engineer.
  • Level 35 Hardened Bright Tracer Rounds can be crafted using Tracer Rounds and 92 Small Machined Parts at a Level 12+ Gear Bench for 61 Fuel. Also requires a Level 35+ Engineer.

Available conditions[]

  • Soft Point, which increases damage by 2.5%.
  • Quality, which increases damage by 5%.
  • Wadcutter, which increases damage by 5%.
  • FMJ, which increases damage by 7.5%.
  • Hardened, which increases damage by 10%.
  • Hollow Point, which increases damage by 10%.
  • Training, which decreases damage by 1%.
  • Soft, which decreases damage by 2.5%.
  • Damaged, which decreases damage by 5%.
  • Rusty, which decreases damage by 7%.

Subtypes[]

Some conditions available for the base type are also available for subtypes.

  • Slugs: Specialty shotgun ammunition designed to increase impact and range at the cost of spread. Increases Effective Range and Knockback, and decreases Accuracy. Can only be used with Shotguns.
    • Ball, which increases Damage by 7.5% and Effective Range by 10%.
  • Tracer Rounds: Specialty ammunition designed to aid the shooter in aiming their shots when using automatic fire. Increases Enemy Suppression and Accuracy, and decreases Effective Range. Can only be used with Assault Rifles and Light Machine Guns.
  • Subsonic Rounds: Lower velocity ammunition designed to reduce noise. Accuracy increases come at the cost of damage and range however. Increases Accuracy and decreases Noise, Effective Range and Enemy Suppression. Damage is decreased at lower levels and increased at higher levels. Comes in two variations: Rifle, which can only be used with Assault Rifles and Light Machine Guns, and SMG, which can only be used with Submachine Guns and Pistols.

Tactics[]

Very useful for combat-focused classes like the Fighter, though certain types of weapons have better results with other types of gear. Support classes would be better off with gear that either enhances their specialties or shores up their weaknesses.  It should never be used with melee weapons as it would prove useless.

It is best used in conjunction with low-medium damage weapons like assault rifles or submachine guns, since high damage weapons like long rifles or shotguns are very likely to one-hit-kill their targets even without the boost, though it can be used to ensure one-hit-kills against even the strongest zombies.
