Background[]
Bicycle wheels must be strong enough to withstand the road it's travelling on and the weight of its rider, while simultaneously being light enough to avoid slowing its rider down. Most traditional bike wheels are made of many wire spokes that join the rim with the hub in the middle of the wheel. Recent wheel development has produced carbon-composite wheels with fewer spokes, allowing it to maintain its strength and lightness while reducing the aerodynamic drag from the spokes.
Spare bike wheels are found in any bicycle repair shop.
