The humble bow and arrow predates written history both as a weapon of war and of survival. While firearms have long superseded them, bows (and later crossbows) remain silent killers as they require no loud explosives to send their deadly projectiles into their targets. The apocalypse has since made this antiquated weapon system viable again; survivors often deploy it in situations where stealth is essential, or when bullets and gunpowder are at their scarcest.
