Background
The domesticated version of the Daucus carota is a well-known root vegetable usually orange in color, though different colored-varieties exist. Carrots are a rich source of carotene, fiber, and Vitamin K, and are used in countless cooking recipes. Nobody knows who came up with the idea of using a carrot as a nose for snowmen, but people have come up with many ideas as to why this may have been the case.
Native to Europe and southwest Asia, it has since been cultivated all around the world.

Trivia
- It is a misconception that eating carrots will help one see better in the dark. While carrots contain Vitamin A, which is required in the production of rhodopsin which allows the eye to see in low-light conditions, it does not actually improve the night vision of a healthy eye.[1]
