Challenge books are a type of book featured in The Last Stand: Dead Zone.
Background
Does life seem too easy for you? Looking for a challenge? Eager people are successful people, and to be successful, you must face more than what life already throws at you. The harder the toil, the greater the reward, and the higher up the ladder you'll be, compared to everyone else.
Only recommended for true survivors.
Effect
Challenge books are books that increase the difficulty of the game, such as by decreasing the amount of items found scavenging, increasing resource consumption and costs, reducing the damage done by survivors, and increasing the damage and resilience of zombies. Challenge books may appear in any book category, and their effects will match those in its category.
The upside is that challenge books provide a boost in the amount of XP gained, which will allow players to level up faster. Challenge books may also provide a formidable challenge to players wishing to spice up their game.
Several achievements are associated with challenge books, namely the "Inconveniencer", "A Challenger Appears!", "Struggler", and "The Ultimate Challenge" achievements, all based on the amount of time the player spends playing the game with at least one challenge book equipped.
