Background[]
Cable ties, also known as wire ties, are plastic fasteners used to hold and bind items together. Ties are designed so that, once set, they cannot be removed — only tightened. They are often used to hold or secure objects in place, such as hubcaps, lids, cloth covers, electrical wires, and uncooperative prisoners. Ties are generally not reused, and are instead cut off when no longer needed. However, while it is possible to reuse a tie, they lose some of their strength and effectiveness.
Sold in department and hardware stores and often found in construction sites.
