Ham is usually meat from the thigh of an animal, most often a pig. It is then smoked and cured, either with salt or sugar. The lack of refrigeration in the Dead Zone has made this brand of heavily salted ham a valuable commodity, as it can endure the most appalling conditions for extended periods without growing a single dot of mold. A traditional sight at Christmas dinners, all survivors can enjoy its rich flavors even in the middle of the zombie apocalypse.
