The Long Blade is a component in The Last Stand: Dead Zone.
Description
Long blade component from a machete or sword.
Background
Swords and machetes have a long blade used for chopping, slicing, and thrusting, and are typically stronger than smaller blades. Blades may be single-edged (only one edge is actually sharp) or double-edged (both edges are sharp); double-edged swords tend to be more effective in close-combat, but are heavier and can injure a careless wielder, giving rise to the idiom "double-edged sword".[1] The blade is the strongest when it is close to the hilt; the blade progressively gets weaker as it approaches the point. The use of swords declined during the 19th and 20th century as advancement in firearms began replacing melee weapons, although swords are still used for ceremonial purposes and decorations.
Long blades are difficult to obtain in the modern age, and typically can only be obtained from dismantled machetes and modern sword replicas.
