The Refined Machined Parts is a component in The Last Stand: Dead Zone. It was introduced during the 2017 Operation Whiteout update.
Description[]
Refined metal parts used in crafting.
Background[]
If you picture the making of steel, you have a red-hot metal that you are forming, rolling, forging, or whatever. The surface of the hot steel is going to react with the oxygen and water vapor in the air, forming something similar to rust: this is called 'scale'. The scale needs to be removed, and 'pickling' is usually the name given to the chemical removal of scale. Strong acids, such as hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid are common, but different applications use also various other acids. Steel that undergoes acid pickling will rust when exposed to regular atmospheric conditions. For this reason, a thin film of oil or similar waterproof coating is applied to create a barrier to protect from the moisture in the air. This oil film must later be removed for many fabrication, plating or painting processes.
