Background[]
Mineral oil is divided in two types: Non-food and food grade. Some DIY enthusiasts make use of food grade mineral oil as a form of wood finish such as wooden dishes, cutting sheets, bowls, kitchen counter-tops, dining tables, and many other kinds of furniture because it is “food-grade safe” and not toxic to health. While it gives an exceptionally great looking wood finish and its non-poisonous, a major con is that it needs to be re-coated occasionally on the grounds as it doesn’t give a durable finish as other wood oil/wax finishes.
