Background[]
Rivets are a permanent mechanical fastener with a head on one end and a "buck-tail" on the other. They are installed by inserting them into a drilled hole, and then "bucking" (deforming) the tail, securing the rivet in place. Rivets are used in automobiles, aircraft, ships, bridges, and sizzle cymbals.
