Tactics Manuals are a feature in The Last Stand: Dead Zone that allow the player to improve a particular skill.

Tactics Manuals are a special type of book that provides passive benefits for all survivors in a compound. Manuals are equipped in a different slot from books and can only be used once for a short period of time. Manuals can be obtained from supply boxes or by crafting them.
Crafting[]

Tactics manuals can be crafted via the crafting menu. All manuals require general Tactics Pages in order to be crafted. Each type of manual requires an additional number of "Elite" tactics pages as well. The three Elite tactics pages are Ability, Defensive, and Offensive. Tactics pages can be obtained by recycling unused books.
Much like crafting other items, a number of other requirements and a set amount of fuel must also be fulfilled before a manual can be crafted.
By default, six manuals can be crafted. The player may unlock more by obtaining schematics for them, either through scavenging or by opening certain supply boxes. Players must still meet the requirements before being able to craft them, however.
Tactics Planning[]

The Tactics Planning skill is required to craft higher-level manuals. The Tactics Planning skill for the compound is shown in the Tactics Manual crafting window. Crafting manuals will add to the skill, and once sufficient experience is gained, the player will level up their Tactics Planning skill.

- While recycling books yields Tactics Pages, recycling Tactics Manuals does not yield anything.
