Type

Component

The Treated Wood is a component in The Last Stand: Dead Zone.

Description

Solid treated wood used in crafting.

Background

Wood is a useful crafting component. It's tough, durable, and can be carved and shaped. However, wood rots quickly when exposed to water, and soon colonies of bacteria and insects are eating away at it. To protect wood from decomposition, various measures have been taken to treat it. The Ancient Greeks soaked wood in olive oil and the Ancient Romans smeared it with tar. In modern times, chemicals are used to treat wood, with non-toxic ones becoming popular.
