The War Hammer is an improvised blunt weapon featured in The Last Stand: Dead Zone.

Background[]

The long medieval war hammer returns in crude post-apocalyptic fashion, and is no less lethal than its ancestors in dealing swift blunt force trauma at length. As courtesy to fellow survivors, it would be well-advised to yell "Duck!" before every swing.

Can be forged given the right materials and knowledge.

How to obtain[]

  • Level 34 Normal variants can be crafted using 50 Hardened Metal, 2 Weapon Handles, 5 Pipes, 20 Wires and 5 Ropes at a Level 12+ Weapons Bench for 17 Fuel. Also requires a Level 34+ Engineer.
  • Level 25 Vintage Thumping variants can be crafted using a Vintage War Hammer and 50 Hardened Metal at a Level 11+ Weapons Bench for 15 Fuel after scavenging the required schematic. Also requires a Level 25+ Engineer.

Tactics[]

While not dealing as much damage as other high level melee weapons, this weapon has an incredibly high knockback chance, which when combined to its respectable range, allows it to keep away zombies with ease. Nevertheless, its relatively low damage still relegates it to a supporting role.

Recommended gear[]

  • Shoes compensate for its move speed penalty, allowing survivors to escape a horde they can't fight.
  • Vests allow the wielder to survive longer, which is especially important for melee weapons.

Pros[]

  • High Damage
  • High Knockback
  • Long Reach
  • Very Accurate
  • Noiseless

Cons[]

  • Moderate Move Speed Penalty
  • Can only be obtained through crafting
  • Slow Attack Rate

Trivia[]

  • The warhammer used in-game would be useless as a warhammer, due to its size and design making it little more than a sledgehammer. A real warhammer has a head of similar weight and size to a ball-peen or carpentry hammer.
