Versions[edit | edit source]
Regular[edit | edit source]
Noting the shortcomings of their M4/M16 rifles, the U.S. military commissioned several arms manufacturers to build a replacement; the result was this highly ergonomic and modular polymer assault rifle from German arms company Heckler & Koch. Although it offered unique features and incredible versatility, the program was plagued with failures, leaving the weapon's future uncertain.
The rifle made it to the international market shortly before the outbreak, with several orders made by HERC for their field operatives.
Light Machine Gun[edit | edit source]
- Main article: XM8 Light Machine Gun
A unique conversion of the XM8 optimized for the LMG role; it features a longer and heavier barrel, an integrated bipod, enhanced iron sights and a 100-round drum magazine. It was only in the prototype stage when the XM8 program was officially cancelled, but had since been seen in the hands of HERC operatives during the quarantine.
HERC is the only known user of this weapon.
Mk II/Custom[edit | edit source]
- Main article: XM8-LMG Mk II
While the XM8-LMG is already a rare and high-performance weapon, the military's armorers have nevertheless managed to turn their talents at improving it, resulting in a light machine gun capable of sending a hail of lead at targets with respectable accuracy. Survivors are in for a massive gain... if they can find the weapon for the design.
A rare weapon, may be found on select troopers.
